The Anna School, and later the Anna Local Schools, have supported a successful band program for over 60 years. The band has received numerous superior and excellent ratings at district and state level adjudicated events over the last 40 years, and continues to strive for the highest level of musical achievement.

The Anna Band welcomed a new director for the 2021-22 season, Mr. Jimmy Suhr. The band has performed two shows and learned countless new stand tunes to perform with the cheerleaders.

The Anna Band has also participated in the Ohio Music Education Associations’s (OMEA) regional Concert Band competition. Participating bands were ranked from with scores ranging I-V, with I being a “Superior” rating and V being a “Poor”. The Anna Band received a Superior (I) rating and qualified for the statewide competition.

During the 20-21 school year, the Anna Band traveled to Orlando, Florida to participate in Disney’s “Imagination Campus” program. Here, the Band worked with a Disney conductor, composer, and sound engineer to produce a version of “Reflection” from the Disney movie “Mulan”.

While in Disney, The Anna Band marched in a Magic Kingdom Parade, performing selections from the previous marching season. The marching route spanned over a mile, ending in a behind-the-scenes tour of the Magic Kingdom campus.

In addition to a concert band, Anna Schools also has a Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, and Pep band. The Jazz band meets as a class and performs at Jazz in the Park as well as concerts. The Pep Band performs at all Varsity Boys’ home games and plays a variety of pop selections. The Pit Orchestra spends all musical season practicing to accompany the actors.
